Name change at my doctors surgery

I rang up my doctors today to check that my blood test results were back.
When I spoke to reception they asked my name and I said the horrible male one with surname.
They then said can you spell it so I did.
“Strange the lady said, I can’t find you. Can you give me your date of birth?”
So I did and after a while she said “ok your address please”
So I told her. She then said she booked me in for a telephone appointment.
When I rang back she asked my name and said oh yes I will put you through.
My doctor said “Hello Lisa.” :-D
After speaking to my doctor about the results and levels I asked if he had changed my name at the surgery, and he has!!!
How wonderful. That is why the woman couldn’t find me. So I am now listed on my surgery documents as Lisa. Yipppppeeeeee
It felt really nice now and as I will always be going as me it will avoid any strangeness when I go to the surgery.
It is quite appropriate really as I am thinking now that I need to start changing my documentation and am trying to find out the best way to do this.

I have been waiting till my closest family are happy with my decision for the official change, why do I never put myself first?

It seems to be as simple as printing out a form which you can download for free and getting the Deed Poll signed by a witness to say that this is going to be your only identity from the time of signing. You may have to wait till just before you go full time at work.

Sure someone out there can put us right. if you are going to get a new passport you will need a letter saying that you are transitioning to get the gender to fit with the presentation, you may have to pay a bit extra if you are planning to fly about to get it done quickly.

Full time job really!

Dear Lisa
Its lovely when you find how kind people can be. If you are lucky enough to have an understanding supportive doctors surgery to go to it can make such a difference.

It can become a bit of a never ending paper chase but its worth all the effort.
